Type of Government: parliamentary republic
There are three branches the executive branch, the legislative branch, and the judicial branch.
The head of the government is Taoiseach, the prime minister.
The area of Ireland was formed over two millennium. Celtic migrations were there in the first millennium B.C.E. Christianity was introduced in the fifth century which helped spark Irish Christianity. Vikings used to live there in the 8th and 9th century. The English used to have control over Ireland in the 12th century. They gained independence from Ireland in 1937 and declared themselves a republic in 1949.
